Ese-Odo to Pay More Elderly Residents as New Welfare Phase Kicks Off
The leadership of Ese-Odo Local Government Area has announced a new phase in its social welfare initiative for elderly residents, with payments for the second and third batches scheduled to begin on April 1, 2026.
In an official statement released on March 31, 2026, the Chief Press Secretary to the executive chairman, Mr. Denis Pounah confirmed that the disbursement exercise will be carried out across two locations, targeting beneficiaries who were part of the initial rollout in December 2025.
For beneficiaries in Igbekebo, payments will take place at the Council Secretariat on April 1, starting at 11:00 a.m. Those in Agadagba-Obon are expected to receive theirs the following day, April 2, at the Riverfront Hotel, also by 11:00 a.m.
The announcement made it clear that only individuals who received their first installment in cash during the December 2025 exercise at the designated centres are eligible for this phase.
“This exercise is strictly for those who benefited from the first batch payment in December 2025 at Igbekebo and Agadagba-Obon,” the statement noted.
Authorities are calling on members of the public, especially relatives and close associates of the beneficiaries, to help spread the information to ensure no eligible person misses out.
The programme reflects the council’s continued effort to provide financial relief and social protection for senior citizens, particularly in the face of ongoing economic challenges.
