Ekeremor Stands Still, NDC Moves Forward
As Nigeria prepares for another political dispensation come 2027, the Ekeremor Local Government Area came alive in an extraordinary political spectacle as the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) staged a historic outing that signaled a deepening grip on grassroots politics and rising influence across Bayelsa West.
The landmark event, held in the heart of Ekeremor town, marked the official inauguration of Ward Executives across the LGA and the commissioning of the party’s LGA Secretariat, described by stakeholders as a bold consolidation of structure and strategy.
Leading the charge was Ebide Brown, flanked by prominent political figures and respected elders including Suru Oyaredei, Mark Ayoro, Ebi Afesuku, Prince-Simeon Epebifiye, and Pius Jonah, a lineup that underscored the weight of the gathering.
The event also drew strong participation from the party’s youth and mobilization base, including Ebilade Ekerefe and Atti J Moses, alongside LGA executives and committed grassroots operatives.
Representing the State Chairman, Dauprebo Ikuromo, was Okoro P. S., whose presence highlighted the strategic importance of the Ekeremor outing to the party’s broader state agenda.
What truly defined the event, however, was the unprecedented turnout. From market women and artisans to youths, elders, traders, and community leaders, the people turned out in overwhelming numbers united, energized, and visibly aligned with the NDC vision.
A sea of supporters clad in party colors transformed the town into a vibrant arena of political expression. Chants, solidarity songs, and coordinated displays of support created what observers described as “not just a gathering, but a movement in motion.”
Speaking at the event, party leaders emphasized the NDC’s ideological grounding and commitment to people-centered politics.
“The growing wave of sponsored attacks against the NDC and its leadership is not a sign of weakness but rather a confirmation of strength and rising influence,” a party chieftain declared.
In a veiled critique of opposition tactics, the party reaffirmed its focus on grassroots engagement over media-driven confrontations.
“While others engage in smear campaigns and propaganda, we remain committed to mobilizing the people and building a structure that reflects their will.”
The NDC also reiterated its democratic stance ahead of future elections:
“Every political party should present its candidates and allow the people to decide at the ballot. The NDC is ready, not for distractions, but for democracy.”
With the successful inauguration of its ward structures and the unveiling of a functional secretariat, the NDC has positioned itself as organized, united, and forward-looking.
As the dust settles on what many are calling a defining political moment, one message echoed clearly across the creeks and communities of Ekeremor: the movement is growing, the base is solid, and the Nigeria Democratic Congress is no longer just a party, it is a force.
