ECOWAS Opens 2026 Recruitment, Invites Nigerians To Apply For Multiple Positions

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has officially launched its 2026 recruitment exercise, offering over 30 job opportunities to qualified candidates across its member states, including Nigeria.

In a notice released via its official platform, the regional body stated that the recruitment drive is part of efforts to strengthen its operational capacity and enhance the implementation of key programmes across West Africa.

ECOWAS disclosed that several roles are currently open at its offices in Abuja. These include positions such as Office Aide, Programme Assistant, Nurse, Protocol Assistant, Documentation and Archives Assistant, and Office Manager (Bilingual Secretary).

Other available roles include Junior Accountant (Disbursements), Legal Officers, Political Adviser, Principal Officers, Registrar positions, as well as leadership roles like Head of Division (Library and Documentation) and Head of Hansard.

Beyond Nigeria, ECOWAS also announced vacancies in other African cities, reflecting its regional presence. These include Administrative and Finance Officer roles in Addis Ababa, Principal Programme Officer (Sports Policy) in Liberia, and Water Supply and Sanitation roles in Conakry. Additional legal and administrative positions are also available in Dakar and other locations.

According to the organisation, applicants must meet specific age criteria depending on the role category:

Up to 35 years for General Services positions (G1–G7)

Up to 45 years for Professional roles (P1–P7)

Up to 50 years for Director-level positions (D1–D2)

 

Application Process

Interested candidates are required to download and complete the official ECOWAS application form, attach a detailed CV and a motivation letter, and submit all documents through the designated application channels.

The organisation emphasised that incomplete applications will not be considered and warned applicants to avoid fraudulent schemes, stressing that the recruitment process is completely free of charge.

Applications for the 2026 recruitment exercise will close on April 30, 2026. ECOWAS also encouraged female candidates to apply, reaffirming its commitment to inclusiveness and equal opportunity.

The recruitment initiative highlights ECOWAS’ ongoing efforts to build a stronger institutional framework capable of driving regional development and cooperation across West Africa.
