The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has responded to recent media reports alleging the unfair distribution of palliatives intended for critical groups in Cross River State. The NDDC strongly refutes these claims, emphasizing that the palliatives, distributed across all nine mandate states of the region, including Cross River State, were received with gratitude and appreciation.

In a statement issued on January 30, 2025, the NDDC categorically dismissed reports regarding the alleged diversion of funds meant for the palliatives and the use of unauthorized beneficiary lists. The Commission clarified that palliatives, not cash, were distributed, and the list of beneficiaries was duly approved by the NDDC Board.

To enhance governance, the NDDC has partnered with KPMG, a global business consultancy, to review and strengthen its corporate governance system and internal processes. The NDDC also expressed its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, highlighting collaboration with stakeholders and development partners, including state governments in the Niger Delta region, to build a socially stable, economically prosperous, ecologically regenerative, and politically peaceful region.

The NDDC has assured the public that the Board and Management will remain focused on their mission and will not be distracted by false reports.
