In a significant recognition of grassroots leadership, the Executive Chairman of Ese-Odo Local Government Area, High Chief Caleb Ebimobowei Molos (CEM), has been honoured with the Strategic Grassroots Politician Award by Arogbo-Ibe Voice Reporters, an indigenous media organisation known for promoting development-focused narratives in the Niger Delta.

The award was presented during a courtesy visit by the management team of Arogbo-Ibe Voice Reporters, led by its Chief Executive Officer and Publisher, Doctor Kegbe, to the local government secretariat in Igbekebo.

During the visit, Kegbe commended Chairman Molos for his commitment to grassroots development and urged him to prioritise the welfare of the people of Ese-Odo, particularly in the areas of education and empowerment. He drew attention to the deteriorating condition of primary schools in the LGA, stressing that many institutions suffer from inadequate staffing, with some schools reportedly managed only by a headteacher without any other teaching staff. Several others are run solely by Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) personnel.

“Every child—rich or poor—deserves access to quality education,” Kegbe stated, urging the chairman to use his good office to address the decay in primary education infrastructure across the LGA.

He further encouraged Molos to emulate the legacy of his former principal, the late Chief Williams F.J. Ajih, a one-time Executive Chairman of Ese-Odo, describing Ajih’s tenure as one marked by excellence and a strong commitment to local government development.

  • May the soul of our former hero, Chief Williams F.J. Ajih, continue to rest in peace,” Kegbe said.

In his response, Chairman Molos expressed heartfelt appreciation for the award and the constructive feedback. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to inclusive development and assured the delegation of his commitment to educational reform, youth empowerment, and the continuity of impactful leadership.

“This award is a call to do more for our people. We are already working on strategies to improve education and other key sectors, and I assure you, we will not relent,” he stated.

Also present at the event were top local government officials, including the Vice Chairlady of Council, Ms. Beauty Modimu Fayowole (Fatila), and the Secretary to the Local Government, Pastor (Prince) Egbukuyomi Fidelis Ola.

The local government staff present at the event were formally introduced by the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, Mr. Denis Pounah, who anchored the proceedings and welcomed the Arogbo-Ibe Voice Reporters delegation on behalf of the executive team. Pounah also delivered a brief goodwill message, appreciating the media organisation for recognising the efforts of the Chairman and reaffirming the administration’s openness to constructive engagements with development stakeholders.

The award presentation ceremony highlighted the growing recognition of community-based leadership and underscored the need for responsive governance in rural areas. Chairman Molos, who also serves as the pioneer Chairman of the Arogbo Local Council Development Area, has been widely praised for his hands-on approach to governance and grassroots engagement.
