Discriminatory Language: Police Apprehend Suspect

In an effort to crack down on hate-motivated crimes, Toronto Police have made a high-profile arrest in a case involving online threats against the Nigerian community.

According to authorities, a suspect was taken into custody on September 1, 2024, for allegedly posting threatening content online. The incident was reported on August 28, 2024, and an investigation was swiftly launched.

“We will not tolerate hate-fueled threats in our city,” said Detective Kelly Lukas. “Our diversity is our strength, and we will do everything in our power to protect it.”

The accused, 46-year-old Amaka Sonnberger, faces charges of Uttering Threats and is set to appear in court today, September 2, 2024.

This case highlights the importance of reporting hate-motivated incidents to the authorities. As Constable Laura Brabant emphasized, “We take these incidents very seriously and will investigate thoroughly to ensure justice is served.”
