Diri Welcomes 23rd Chief of Air Staff, Describes Visit as ‘Homecoming’
In a groundbreaking development, Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, on Wednesday received the 23rd Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, at Government House, Yenagoa, describing the visit as a homecoming and reaffirming the strong partnership between the Nigerian Air Force and the state government.
The governor congratulated Aneke on his appointment, noting that Bayelsa has produced and hosted senior military officers who have distinguished themselves through dedicated service.
“First, your visit today is a homecoming for us, and we open our arms to receive you,” Diri said.
“You served this state with integrity whilst you were here as Air Officer Commanding the Mobility Command. You worked in partnership and synergy with the government and good people of Bayelsa State.”
Aneke previously served as Air Officer Commanding the Mobility Command in Yenagoa before his elevation as the 23rd Chief of Air Staff.
Diri said the state takes pride in the achievements of officers who served within its territory, attributing their career progression to diligence and commitment to duty.
“We are very proud that God has made it possible for most of you who are very senior military officers that have served with integrity here to always be rewarded. That’s our prayer in Bayelsa, that when you serve here and serve the people and the government, God is seeing you, and the next thing for good service is more service,” he stated.
The governor stressed that the relationship between the Nigerian Air Force and Bayelsa State has remained cordial, adding that the Air Force has played a significant role in maintaining peace and security in the state.
The visit highlights the continued collaboration between the Bayelsa State Government and the Nigerian Air Force in strengthening security and stability in the Niger Delta region.
