PORT HARCOURT, RIVERS STATE – The global diplomatic crisis sparked by U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat of military intervention in Nigeria has escalated sharply following a ferocious counter-warning from former Niger Delta militant leader, Alhaji Mujahid Asari Dokubo.

In a statement that has gone immediately viral and injected raw defiance into the national discourse, Dokubo, a figure with a history of mobilizing armed resistance in the region, rebuked President Trump’s declaration that the U.S. may intervene “guns-a-blazing” to address alleged “Christian genocide” in Nigeria.
Dokubo’s intervention, captured in a widely circulated video, directly challenged the threat to Nigerian sovereignty and vowed armed pushback against any foreign boots on Nigerian soil.

“Donald Trump, you better listen! We are not afraid of the U.S. military. If you dare bring your ‘guns-a-blazing’ to Nigeria, you will not find a tea party waiting for you,” Dokubo thundered in the video.

This is our land. We will fight you to the last man! Every Nigerian who believes in the sovereignty of this nation will resist any invasion.”

President Trump’s highly controversial threat, initially posted on his social media platform, included a warning to the Nigerian government:  “If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.”

Dokubo’s response, however, reframes the narrative from one of religious persecution requiring foreign rescue, to a fundamental challenge of national integrity. His fiery ultimatum resonates deeply within a country sensitive to external control, particularly among nationalist groups and leaders in the resource-rich Niger Delta.

Analysts suggest Dokubo’s readiness to champion a unified national resistance, irrespective of his past disagreements with the central government, underscores the depth of Nigerian rejection of military threats from Washington. His uncompromising stance adds significant weight to the growing pushback from both Nigerian government officials and citizens who oppose the U.S. framing of Nigeria’s complex security challenges solely as a religious war.

The video, which is currently dominating national and international commentary, serves as a stark warning that any unilateral military action by the U.S. would be viewed as an act of war and met with the full force of a fiercely nationalist armed response from key regional figures.
