Yenagoa, May 13, 2025 — In a bold push to digitalize learning in Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria!, has gifted 500 U-Lesson educational tablets to students across public and private primary and secondary schools in Bayelsa State.

The high-impact event, held at the Banquet Hall of Government House in Yenagoa, drew hundreds of eager pupils and students aged five to eighteen. This strategic educational intervention, spearheaded by the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) in collaboration with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), aims to supercharge academic performance through technology-driven learning.

Representing the First Lady, Dr. Gloria Diri, wife of the Bayelsa State Governor and State RHI Coordinator, emphasized that education remains a non-negotiable foundation for national development. She asserted that the deployment of digital tools like tablets marks a turning point in the fight against academic underachievement.

“Technology has transformed the educational landscape — smartphones and tablets are now gateways to knowledge. But we must guide our children to extract only what sharpens their intellect and eliminates distractions,” Dr. Diri said.

She stressed that the tablets, preloaded with age-appropriate educational content and apps, are tailored to boost students’ learning both in classrooms and at home. “Educational advancement remains a priority. These devices are part of the vision of the Mother of the Nation, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. Use them well, read more, soar higher, and make your parents proud,” she charged the students.

Highlighting the technical features, Mr. David Osumah explained that the U-Lesson tablets offer structured lessons, offline usability, and performance monitoring tools. With built-in parental controls and evaluation features, he added, the devices are designed to enhance students’ focus, retention, and exam readiness.

Commending the initiative, lawmakers and top government officials, including Hon. Chief Ayibanegiyefa Egba and representatives from the Bayelsa State Ministries of Education and Women Affairs, hailed the donation as a transformative step toward modernizing education in the region.

The partnership between RHI and the NDDC is seen as a critical model for nationwide educational reform through digital empowerment.
