Crude theft: PINL destroys bunkers in Niger delta
Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) has dismantled over 500 illegal oil bunkering points across Cross River, Abia, Rivers, and other oil-producing states in the Niger Delta over the past few months. This information was shared by Comr. Henry Itazi, also known as General Small Pepper, President of the Rivers State Ex-Agitators Network for Development (REAND), during a briefing in Abuja.
Itazi praised PINL for its significant efforts in securing oil pipelines in the region, emphasizing that these actions have played a crucial role in improving the Nigerian oil industry. He highlighted that the Niger Delta, long plagued by pipeline vandalism and theft, has faced major challenges in safeguarding crude oil transportation. However, PINL’s efforts have resulted in a marked reduction in pipeline sabotage and theft, contributing to the security and continuity of this vital infrastructure.

The group noted that PINL’s work has bolstered Nigeria’s oil production capacity by reducing pipeline breaches, which has directly led to an increase in crude oil production. This has provided a more stable environment for oil exploration and transportation, enhancing the country’s ability to meet both domestic and international oil demand.
REAND also commended PINL’s ongoing commitment to restoring pipeline integrity across the region, which is critical to maintaining Nigeria’s position as one of Africa’s leading oil producers. They further encouraged PINL to continue its efforts towards helping Nigeria achieve its goal of producing three million barrels of oil per day.
The group acknowledged the support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mr. Mele Kyari, for recognizing the value of PINL’s work. They urged the President to continue supporting PINL, as its contributions are vital for enhancing Nigeria’s energy security and driving economic growth. The group concluded by urging PINL to maintain its positive momentum, as Nigeria’s target of reaching three million barrels per day in crude oil production is now more achievable with PINL’s continued efforts.
