Crude oil: Dangote Refinery officially kicks off production
The Dangote Refinery, a $20 billion initiative led by billionaire Aliko Dangote, has commenced petrol production, marking a major achievement for Nigeria’s energy sector. This advancement is anticipated to ease the country’s persistent petrol shortages, providing essential relief to many Nigerians.
During a press conference, Dangote highlighted that the refinery will drive growth and prosperity by delivering energy to the populace. He expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu’s administration for creating a supportive environment for the project, and praised the “Naira for crude, Naira for product” scheme, which he believes will help stabilize the Naira by reducing the need for dollars.
Dangote assured that the refinery’s petrol quality will be world-class, comparable to that found in countries like the US, and will improve vehicle performance and longevity. The facility is set to meet the needs of both Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa.
