NNPC Ltd has reaffirmed its dedication to collaborating with host communities in the Niger Delta to achieve lasting peace and economic growth. Group CEO Mallam Mele Kyari made this statement during a dialogue session with Niger Delta communities, organized in partnership with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South-South), Hon. Gift Johnbull, at the Igurubia Square Ultra-Modern Town Hall in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

This session is part of citizen assembly engagements related to the upcoming COP 29 Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, in November. Represented by Mr. Sani Kabo, Head of Business Services at NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), Kyari described the event as a significant step toward fostering unity and promoting development in the region through the Third Phase Amnesty Program.

He emphasized NNPC Ltd.’s commitment to ongoing dialogue with traditional leaders, ex-agitators, and youth leaders to address local issues and rebuild trust across the nine states of the Niger Delta. Kyari highlighted that the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021 mandates that 3% of NNPC Ltd.’s operational expenditures be allocated to community development, ensuring projects align with community needs while focusing on skills training, empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods.

“Our mission is clear. We aim to foster lasting peace, create economic opportunities, and transform the Niger Delta into a model of unity and progress. NNPC Ltd stands with the Niger Delta in building a prosperous future grounded in mutual respect and collaboration,” Kyari concluded.
