In a bold and transformative move, the Ondo state Governor, His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has drawn a definitive line under the era of wooden jetties and walkways in Ondo State’s riverine communities. With a clear vision for sustainable development, the governor has vowed to replace all antiquated wooden infrastructures in Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas with solid and enduring concrete structures.
“No more fragile timber underfoot,” the governor declared. “We are building for the future—durability, safety, and dignity for our people.”
The effort is already underway. At Obe-Nla, an impressive 442 meters of concrete slab construction has been completed, alongside 910 meters of piling—a firm start to a stronger future.
Governor Aiyedatiwa’s approach goes beyond mere construction. It’s a commitment to equity for often-overlooked communities, ensuring that residents in the state’s most remote regions enjoy the same standards of infrastructure as those in urban centers.
By reinforcing Ondo’s waterways with lasting materials, the administration is not only addressing the wear-and-tear of time but also uplifting lives—one concrete block at a time.
