Hundreds of travelers are currently stuck at the Suleja axis of the Abuja-Kaduna highway in Niger state, as protesters have effectively blocked the road, bringing all movement to a grinding halt.

According to Abubakar Ibrahim, an Abuja resident who was attempting to travel to his home state of Kaduna,

“We’ve been stuck here for over two hours, and the gridlock stretches for kilometers, from Aluminum Village to Zuma military barracks”

Ibrahim described the scene, saying, “The protesters are in control, and the police are outnumbered.

They’re standing by, but can’t do much to clear the road.”

As of 11:40 am on Thursday, the situation remains dire, with no end in sight.

The protesters, comprised of youths, have successfully blocked the highway, leaving commuters stranded and frustrated.

The roadblock has caused a significant backlog, with vehicles stuck in the gridlock, and no clear solution in sight. “We’re stuck here, going nowhere,” said Ibrahim, echoing the sentiments of his fellow travelers.
