A coalition of beneficiaries under the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) has risen in strong defense of the Programme’s Administrator, Dr. Dennis Otuaro, describing recent calls for his sack by a certain Commander Green as “an exercise in futility” and a failed attempt to discredit ongoing successes.
The coalition, led by Bodmas Prince Kemepadei, faulted the faceless figure behind the sponsored campaign, stating that “Commander Green and his coherts do not represent the mind or position of true PAP beneficiaries in the Niger Delta.”
In a statement made available to our correspondent, the coalition described the criticism against Dr. Otuaro as “malicious, cowardly, and borne out of self-deceit.” They further alleged that the group, which goes by the name The Real Beneficiaries of the Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Programme (TRBNDPAP), lacks credibility and is likely being used by individuals pursuing personal interests.
“We categorically state that Dr. Dennis Otuaro enjoys the overwhelming solidarity and support of real beneficiaries and the good people of the Niger Delta,” the statement read. “The accusations of incompetence are baseless, and in contrast, his administration has proven innovative, inclusive, and impactful.”
The group highlighted key achievements under Dr. Otuaro’s leadership, including:
1. Prompt payment of stipends to ex-agitators
2. Expansion of educational scholarships and vocational training programmes
3. Engagement with over 4,000 beneficiaries in universities, aviation schools, and skill-building centres
4. Strengthened community and stakeholder engagement leading to relative peace in the region…
The coalition praised Dr. Otuaro’s commitment and noted that his leadership has significantly advanced the reintegration process and overall goals of the PAP.
“Rather than engage in mudslinging and unfounded accusations, we urge critics like Mr. Green and his sponsors to focus on constructive dialogue that can bring further development to our region,” the statement added.
Reaffirming their unwavering support, the coalition expressed confidence in Dr. Otuaro’s continued service and urged Niger Delta stakeholders to ignore the “noise” from paid detractors.
“Dr. Otuaro has demonstrated the competence and commitment required to lead the Presidential Amnesty Programme to greater heights,” Kemepadei concluded. “We stand solidly with him.”
