U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he reached an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin for an immediate ceasefire on energy and infrastructure in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump described his conversation with Putin as “a very good and productive one,” emphasizing that both sides are committed to working towards a complete ceasefire.
“This war would never have started if I were President!” Trump asserted, while noting that discussions covered multiple elements of a “Contract for Peace.” He added that both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are eager to see an end to the conflict.
“Many elements of a Contract for Peace were discussed, including the fact that thousands of soldiers are being killed, and both President Putin and President Zelenskyy would like to see it end. That process is now in full force and effect, and we will, hopefully, for the sake of humanity, get the job done!” Trump stated.
Details of the agreement remain unclear, and neither the Kremlin nor Kyiv has issued an official confirmation of the ceasefire terms. However, the development marks a significant diplomatic effort toward ending the protracted war.
