A tragic incident has been reported involving the Iralatei musical band, as a boat conveying their instruments capsized along the Ajakurama waterway in Edo State.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 5:20 PM on Tuesday, April 8, 2026, resulted in the loss of several valuable musical instruments after the boat sank into the river. Eyewitness accounts indicate that the vessel went down suddenly, leaving most of the equipment submerged.
However, only two speakers, a piano, and two konga drums were successfully recovered from the water through the immediate rescue efforts of those present at the scene. All other valuable instruments were completely lost.
