Alabo Boma Iyaye, Executive Director of Finance and Administration at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has been honoured with the *Heart of Gold Award* by the Eve Afrique Empowerment Initiative.
The recognition, presented at the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt, is part of the organisation’s Red Ball Awards, which celebrate exceptional Niger Delta indigenes making significant contributions to the region’s growth.
Expressing gratitude for the honour, Iyaye said he was humbled to be recognised and motivated to further his efforts in advancing the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large. He urged residents to take ownership of their future by creating strategic plans for community development.
Highlighting the region’s vast untapped resources, he called for both local and foreign investments to drive economic progress and improve living standards. Iyaye also commended Eve Afrique for fostering dialogue on regional development and pledged continued collaboration with the group’s empowerment initiatives.
Eve Afrique President, Mrs. Ivy Etokakpan, stressed the importance of acknowledging achievers and promoting shared responsibility in transforming the Niger Delta. She noted that the 2025 Red Ball, themed *“Restoring the Pride of the Niger Delta”*, is a call to reclaim the values, unity, and strength that define the people.
In a separate gesture, Iyaye decorated his police orderly, ASP Atayi Otache, who was recently elevated to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police.
