YENAGOA — Apostle Bodmas has engaged the services of a former Attorney General of Bayelsa State and formally petitioned the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) over the death of Mr. Patrick Peresuodei, calling for an independent and unbiased investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

In the petition addressed to the IGP, Bodmas, urged the Nigeria Police Force to constitute a special panel of inquiry to determine the cause of Peresuodei’s death.

The petition also referenced the Bayelsa State Police Command and its tactical unit, Operation Puff Adder, requesting a review of their alleged involvement.

According to the petition, the demand for an independent panel is aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability and public confidence in the outcome of the investigation.

We are demanding justice for the late Patrick Peresuodei. The issues surrounding his death require a thorough, transparent and impartial investigation,” Bodmas was quoted as saying.

He maintained that the move was not intended to malign the police but to safeguard the integrity of the investigative process. “This is about the rule of law. An unbiased panel will help establish the facts and reassure the public that justice will be served,” he stated.

Sources familiar with the development said the decision to retain a former Attorney General underscores the seriousness of the matter and signals a readiness to pursue legal remedies where necessary.

As of press time, the Bayelsa State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement in response to the petition. Efforts to reach police authorities for comments were unsuccessful.

The case has begun to attract attention within the state, with observers noting that the response of the IGP will likely determine the next phase of the matter. Meanwhile, the family of the deceased is said to be awaiting official action from the police authorities.
