Bayelsa Youth Commissioner Urges Young People to Apply for NCDMB Oil & Gas Training Programme

The Commissioner for Youth Development in Bayelsa State, Hon. Alfred Kemepadei Nimizigha, has called on eligible youths across the state to take advantage of the ongoing Oil & Gas Field Readiness Training Programme organized by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).

In a statement made available to the public, the Commissioner emphasized that the initiative is designed to equip young Nigerians with practical skills for immediate employment opportunities within the oil and gas sector.

According to him, the programme is open to young individuals not older than 35 years and covers a wide range of specialized fields, including subsea engineering, underwater welding, drilling engineering, marine operations, geosciences, and digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and big data.

Other areas of training include control and automation engineering, production and maintenance engineering, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), as well as aviation and maritime roles like helicopter piloting and seafaring.

Hon. Nimizigha noted that applicants must possess relevant qualifications such as OND, HND, or BSc in engineering, science, technology, or related disciplines.

He further disclosed that the training programme will span between 12 to 18 months and is specifically structured to align participants with existing job opportunities in the industry.

“This is a strategic programme aimed at preparing our youths for gainful employment. As a government, we are committed to supporting initiatives that create sustainable livelihoods, and we will continue to collaborate with critical stakeholders to ensure maximum participation and impact,” he said.
