The newly appointed General Officer Commanding 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Emeka, stated that he plans to intensify operations against suspected illegal oil bunkers in the Niger Delta to exceed the federal government’s target of 2.3 million barrels of crude oil production per day, aiming for 2.5 million barrels per day by 2025.
He emphasized the division’s strategic importance to both the nation and the presidency, noting that crude oil is central to Nigeria’s economy.
Major General Emekah vowed to lead by example, committing to being actively involved in the field rather than staying in his office. He encouraged his officers to work hard to exceed the division’s and the government’s oil production targets, setting a goal of 2.5 million barrels per day.
He said: “We will not disappoint. Our goal is not just 2.3 million barrels per day but 2.5 million. Even if we fall short, we will aim for 2.4 million barrels per day.”

He added, “We are committed to doing our best. You need to prepare yourselves for hard work. I am not the type of commander who stays behind a desk. I will be out in the field, working with your units, while the Chief of Staff handles office duties.”
