The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) has reaffirmed that its scholarship scheme remains entirely free of charge, cautioning members of the public, particularly Niger Deltans, against making any form of payment during the application process.
In a statement signed by Mr. Igoniko Oduma, Special Assistant on Media to the Administrator, Dr. Dennis Otuaro, PAP stated that the scholarship application for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes does not involve the payment of money at any stage.
The clarification follows reports reaching the Administrator’s office that some individuals and purported PAP stakeholders have been collecting money from unsuspecting parents and guardians under the pretext of securing admissions for their wards.
The statement warned that such acts are fraudulent, emphasizing that no applicant, parent, or guardian should pay anyone for placement or admission under the PAP scholarship scheme.
“If you pay money to anybody, you do so at your own risk,” the statement read, adding that the management under Dr. Otuaro will not hesitate to take decisive action against anyone found involved in the illegal practice.
