Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has expressed strong faith in God’s power to defeat those who oppose the state and its people. Speaking at the New Year’s Eve church service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Opobo Town, Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, Fubara led the congregation in singing a hymn affirming God’s sovereignty. He emphasized that the words of the song were not just comforting, but also a reminder to the people to trust in God, who alone can guide them to greater success in the New Year.

Fubara assured the people that any plans of enemies would be thwarted, stating, “The Red Biro is still filled… Every enemy plan will continue to crash,” and wished everyone a prosperous New Year.

Bishop Dr. Emmanuel Oko-Jaja of the Anglican Diocese of Niger Delta, who led the service, reflected on the challenges faced in 2024, including conspiracies, blackmail, attacks, and economic struggles. However, he noted that these difficulties did not overpower the people. He expressed gratitude for God’s blessings and triumphs in their lives, and prayed for peace, unity, and development in the state in line with the goals of the 2025 Budget of Inclusive Growth and Development.
