The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has emerged victorious in the Ondo governorship election, winning by a wide margin across all 18 local government areas. Aiyedatiwa, the incumbent governor, secured 366,781 votes, defeating his closest contender, Ajayi Agboola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 117,845 votes—248,936 votes fewer than the APC candidate.

After months of intense campaigns and political manoeuvres, the residents of Ondo State have reaffirmed Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, granting him another four-year term. The Returning Officer, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State, officially declared the results at the INEC collation centre in Akure at 2:30 PM on Sunday.

“Having satisfied the requirements of the law, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of the APC is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” Prof. Akinwumi announced.

The announcement followed hours of collation, during which the APC consistently maintained a commanding lead. By the conclusion of the process, the final results confirmed the APC’s dominance, with Aiyedatiwa achieving a clean sweep of all 18 local government areas.

The outcome underscores the incumbent’s popularity and sets the stage for continued APC leadership in Ondo State.
