Aiyedatiwa Loses Two Media Aides Within 48 Hours
In Akure, the capital city of Ondo state, two members of the media team of Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, have stepped down from their appointments, marking a quiet shake-up within the Government House communications unit.
The officials — Pastor Taiwo Gbamila, who served as Senior Special Assistant on Multimedia, and Olugbenga Abire, Special Assistant on New Media — announced their departures on Sunday and Monday.
Gbamila formally conveyed his resignation in a letter addressed to the governor and the Secretary to the State Government, expressing gratitude for the chance to serve in the administration.
In his correspondence, he appreciated the governor for the opportunity given to him and stated that he was relinquishing his position with respect.
Abire, on his part, made his decision public through a personal statement, describing the move as emotional but deliberate. He noted that although he would miss working with colleagues in government, he remained accessible.
Providing further details in a social media post on Monday, Abire said he had informed the governor of his intention to resign on Sunday evening.
According to him, the governor, who appointed him in December 2023, gave his blessing and offered prayers for his next steps.
He added that he also notified his colleagues, who wished him well.
As of the time of filing this report, neither of the former aides had disclosed the reasons behind their resignation, and the Ondo State Government had yet to issue an official statement on the development.
The near-simultaneous exits of both media aides have drawn attention within political circles in the state, though there is no indication of an immediate replacement.
