Airport Police Unveil Activities For 2026 National Police Day Celebration
The Airport Command of the Nigeria Police Force has announced a lineup of activities to commemorate the 2026 National Police Day, with a focus on honouring fallen officers and strengthening community relations.
The celebration, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” is designed to promote collaboration between the police and the public, particularly within the aviation sector.
Week-Long Activities Announced
According to the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Adeola, the programme will commence on Monday, March 30, with a sanitation and environmental cleaning exercise.
This will be followed by a walkathon on Tuesday, March 31, aimed at encouraging unity and physical fitness among officers and residents.
On Wednesday, April 1, the Command will carry out public sensitisation campaigns, engaging drivers and key stakeholders within the airport environment on safety and security awareness.
Honour for Fallen Officers
A major highlight of the celebration is scheduled for Thursday, April 2, when families of deceased officers will be honoured.
The Command disclosed that cheques would be presented to the families in recognition of the sacrifices made by officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Grand Finale in Abuja
The week-long event will culminate in a grand finale on April 7 at the Eagle Square in Abuja.
The finale will feature a ceremonial parade, tactical displays, and other activities showcasing the professionalism and operational capabilities of the police force.
Commitment to Community Policing
Speaking on the significance of the event, the Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, Ogunbode Olufunke, said the celebration provides an opportunity to honour fallen heroes while inspiring serving officers.
She emphasised that building trust with the public remains central to effective policing, noting that the event would help deepen collaboration between the police and communities.
The Command added that the activities align with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to enhance community partnership and improve public confidence in the Force.
Officials reaffirmed their readiness to actively participate in the celebration, describing it as an opportunity to demonstrate professionalism, honour sacrifices, and reinforce the values of service and trust.
