AIMC Rebukes MRAI Over Criticism, Backs IYC’s Vote of Confidence on Hon. Ojogo (MHR)

The Arogbo Ijaw Monitoring Council (AIMC) has issued a strong rebuttal to the Movement for the Rights of Arogbo-Ibe (MRAI) following the group’s recent condemnation of the vote of Confidence passed by the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) on Hon. Donald Kimikanboh Ojogo, the lawmaker representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

In a statement signed and made available to our correspondent, the AIMC described MRAI’s stance as “out of touch with reality” and accused the group of engaging in baseless criticism that undermines the unity and progress of Arogbo Ibe. The group called on MRAI to tender an unreserved apology to the IYC, which it referred to as the “mother of all youth organisations in Ijaw land.”.The group further highlighted some of the visibly impactful achievements of Hon. Ojogo (MHR) which include, infrastructural development, human capacity development, educational support, and just to mention but a few.

RE: VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON HON. DONALD KIMIKANBO OJOGO: MRAI OUT OF TOUCH

The Arogbo Ijaw Monitoring Council (AIMC) has observed with keen interest the recent criticisms by the Movement for the Rights of Arogbo Ibe (MRAI) against the Ijaw Youth Council’s (IYC) vote of confidence on Hon. Donald Kimikanboh Ojogo, the member representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency.

As a council committed to fostering unity in the Arogbo Kingdom, we can not remain neutral in the face of unconstructive criticism masquerading as community activism. Arogbo Ibe is renowned for its values of civility, decorum, and respect for constituted authorities. Therefore, we can not be associated with the kind of radicalism exhibited by MRAI.

Hon. Donald Kimikanboh Ojogo has achieved remarkable feats in his two years in office despite facing significant health challenges that temporarily affected his representation. His accomplishments within space of years in office include but are not limited to;

1. Construction of 200 meters wooden walkway at Ilowo in Ilaje

2. Construction of 200 meters wooden walkway at Odun-yonren in Ilaje

3. Construction of 200 metres wooden walkway at Akpata, Ese-Odo

4. Construction of 200 meters wooden walkway at Dababilebu, Ese-Odo

5. Construction of 150 metres wooden

6. Construction of 3 Classroom block at Ijaw National High School, Arogbo

7. Construction of 3 Classroom block at Baptist pry school, Arogbo

8. Construction of Six Classroom block at Amapere

9. Facilitated and awarded the construction of 12 classroom blocks at Ilaje High School, Igbokoda

10. Construction of 6 classrooms block at Arenibaro Memorial High School Amapere

11. Facilitated free JAMB registration for 220 students of Ilaje/Ese-Odo(2024)

12. Facilitated free JAMB registration for 220 students in Ilaje/Ese-Odo(2025)

13. Disbursed #100,000 to each of the 21 Law School graduates from the constituency in 2023; same replicated just recently.

14. Ongoing Construction of Ukparama Comprehensive Health Centre, Bolowou

15. Financial support several constituents in off-setting their medical bills

16. Finalizing modalities on life insurance for 1000 constituents engaging in transportation business

17. Construction of Borehole at Ode-Etikan

18. Construction of Borehole at Sabomi

19. Construction of Borehole at Amapere

20. Provision of three (3) 3.5KVA generators to power the boreholes

21. Provision of Solar powered street lights at Arogbo

22. Provision of Solar powered street lights at Awodikuro

23. Facilitated the delivery of relief materials (Roofing Sheets, Mattresses,Food Items, Clothings, etc) to flood victims at Ayetoro and Igbobini through National Emergency Management Agency NEMA

24. Distribution of 150 tonnes Fish Smoking Kiln (10) to local fish sellers

25. Empowerment of 150 Traders, Youths and Artisans with Sewing machines, Grinding machine, Deep freezers, and Generators to support their businesses

26. Cash transfer of #20,000 to 1,100 women amounting to #22,000,000

27. Distribution of 600 bags of rice to constituents (Dec 2023)

28. Disbursement of N56.3M to constituents (December 2024)

29. Distribution of 900 bags of rice to constituents (March 2025)

30. Facilitated employment for 8 constituents into the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Police and others, etc.

Given his achievements, we believe Hon. Ojogo deserves commendation and is worthy of the vote of confidence passed by the IYC. In view of the above, we condemn MRAI’s criticism of the IYC, which lacks altruistic activism for community development.

2. We endorse the vote of confidence for Hon. Donald Ojogo commends him for his good work.

3. We demand an unreserved apology from MRAI to the IYC, being the mother of all youth organisations in Ijaw Ibe.

4. We urge MRAI to engage in constructive activism that promotes social cohesion and community development.
