Agbedigbaran Community Decries Continued Government Neglect, Calls for Help

The Agbedigbaran community in Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State has urgently appealed to well-meaning individuals, government officials, and organisations for assistance over their deteriorating conditions. The community, with over 1,000 inhabitants and situated at the far end of Arogbo kingdom, is currently in a state of severe distress.

Earlier this year, the Arogbo-Ibe Voice Reporters News Crew visited Agbedigbaran to document the dire situation of the residents and shared their findings with relevant authorities and individuals. Despite this effort, no action has been taken to address the community’s pressing needs.

In a recent follow-up phone conversation with the village head, Elder Godfrey Doutimiwei, it was revealed that there has been no improvement since the report was made. “Nothing has changed. Agbedigbaran now feels like an isolated village, suffering from neglect. It seems no one is aware of our existence,” he said.

Elder Doutimiwei expressed frustration over the lack of response from the government, despite the community’s active participation in taxes, electoral processes, and other state activities. He continued, “We are only remembered during election campaigns. Our rivers remain blocked by water hyacinth and are undrinkable. Our primary school lacks teachers, there are no health facilities, and our women cannot access markets due to the blocked river. We are suffering.”

The intervention effort of the government is urgently needed in the community to make life meaningful among the dwellers. The efforts of the government will no doubt strengthen sense of belonging, especially among the locals.
