The African Democratic Congress has declared that it will not tolerate anti-party activities within its ranks as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The party made this known during the unveiling of the 1ADC political movement, an initiative designed to mobilise members and supporters across different social and political groups as part of efforts to challenge the ruling party in the next presidential race.

Speaking at the event, the National Coordinator of the movement, Lauretta Onochie, acknowledged that disagreements are common in political organisations but emphasised that such differences must not undermine party unity.

According to her, the 1ADC movement was established to reduce internal conflicts among party leaders and aspirants while strengthening grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

Onochie stressed that the collective interest of the party must take priority over personal ambitions.

She noted that the initiative seeks to bring together Nigerians across age groups, political affiliations and social backgrounds under a united political platform.

“We are here to show that unity among political actors is possible. After our primaries, we will heal our differences and remain united. We will not encourage anti-party activities,” she said.

She added that the party intends to expand its reach to grassroots communities, particularly young people and economically disadvantaged citizens, while building a disciplined and united political structure.

ADC Leaders Call for National Reawakening

Also speaking at the event, former National Chairman of the party, Ralphs Nwosu, said the decision to position the ADC as a coalition platform was aimed at giving Nigerians an opportunity to reclaim their country.

Nwosu urged citizens to move beyond complaints and actively participate in reshaping the country’s political future.

According to him, the party’s leadership deliberately created an open platform that allows Nigerians to take ownership of the political process and contribute to national transformation.

He warned that greater civic engagement would be necessary to prevent the country from sliding into deeper political and economic challenges after the 2027 elections.
