A Pen Laid Down, A Legacy Lifted: OSOPADEC Honours Retiring Director, Engr. Eregha
The Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, orgainsed a dignified Pendown Ceremony in honour of Engr. Allen Ekpobomini Eregha, Director of Project Monitoring and Evaluation, as he retired from active service after years of meritorious contribution.
The memorable event, held at the Commission’s Boardroom, coincided with its monthly prayer meeting and served as both a formal send-off and a reflective moment on leadership, legacy, and service.
In his address, the Executive Chairman of OSOPADEC, Prince Olabiyi Olaleye Poroye, underscored the importance of building a legacy that transcends official titles.
He stated that true relevance lies in the impact made and the lives touched during one’s career.
Poroye charged staff members to be deliberate in nurturing growth within their teams, emphasizing that leadership is best measured by the ability to uplift others.
He also highlighted key principles for lasting impact, including personal well-being, kindness, integrity, and generosity.
“The way we treat others and the values we uphold will ultimately speak for us long after we leave office,” he said.
The ceremony featured a series of heartfelt tributes from colleagues and associates, who recounted personal and professional experiences with the retiring director, describing him as a dedicated and principled leader.
Symbolic moments added depth to the occasion, particularly when the Director of Legal Services, Barr. Pamela Olowoyo, performed a “figure eight” gesture to signify renewal and new beginnings.
In a defining highlight of the ceremony, Engr. Eregha completed his final official duty by issuing his last memo to the Permanent Secretary before symbolically laying down his pen, marking the close of a distinguished career in public service.
In his response, Engr. Eregha expressed deep appreciation to the management and staff of OSOPADEC for their unwavering support and collaboration throughout his years of service.
He described his retirement not as an end, but as the beginning of a new chapter filled with promise and opportunity.
The Pendown Ceremony stands as a testament to OSOPADEC’s culture of honouring excellence and celebrating individuals whose service has left a lasting impact on the Commission and the communities it serves.
