A man abuses a two-year-old toddler in Ondo

An Akure Magistrates’ Family Court found worker Peter Jude guilty of sexually abusing a two-year-old child and sentenced him to two years in prison with hard labor.

Jude was also given a two-day flogging order by the court. According to reports, Jude, 40, committed the crime in Dele Ojo Camp in Uso, Owo local government area, on July 14, 2024.

It was reported that he was engulfed in the infant and had already secreted semen into her vagina. Jude admitted to one count of indecent sexual assault and asked for forgiveness from the court, blaming his conduct on the devil.

Jude’s employment as a laborer was disclosed to the court by the prosecutor, Martins Olowofeso Father of the victim to labor on his farm.

According to him, the crime violates Ondo State Violence Against Persons (Prohibitions) Law 2021, Section 3(1).

“The mother of the victim detected that there was fluid of semen on her baby’s vagina when he met the defendant on top of her,” the prosecution stated, The victim’s father lived with the defendant. When the infant fell sleeping, he carried her up to the room. He reached down and attempted to pierce the infant’s vagina. But let go of her in the process.

Following his arrest, the defendant was charged and given a warning before being taken to the State Criminal Investigative Department’s (SCID) Gender-Based Unit for a full investigation.

After that, the infant was brought to Refer to the hospital for a medical examination; following the issuance of a report, he was charged. Mrs. B.A. Alphonso, the presiding magistrate, found Jude guilty and sentenced him to two years in prison and hard labor.

“Given the frequency of the offense, the court must set an example to serve as a deterrent to others,” she asserts.The defendant is now to do two years of hard labor and two days of whipping as part of his sentence.
