In a bid to reconcile with members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has extended an invitation to the lawmakers for a crucial meeting.
A document obtained by Arogbo-Ibe Voice reveals that the meeting is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Monday, March 10, at the Office of the Governor, Government House, Port Harcourt.
According to the invitation addressed to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, the meeting aims to address the following:
1. Provision of a befitting space for the Assembly’s sittings.
2. Payment of all outstanding remuneration and allowances for the lawmakers.
3. Presentation of the state budget and related matters.
4. Any other issues deemed necessary for the state’s progress.
The invitation, dated March 7, 2025, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Tammy Danagogo, referenced an earlier communication dated March 5, 2025, in which the governor reaffirmed his commitment to resolving legislative concerns.
“I hereby write in furtherance of His Excellency’s promise… to notify you that His Excellency has received the Supreme Court judgment and has therefore directed me to invite you and your colleagues to a meeting to discuss critical legislative matters in the best interest of the state,” the document stated.
The meeting is expected to be a significant step toward fostering legislative-executive harmony amid recent political tensions in the state.
