The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, alongside the Executive Director of Projects, Sir Victor Antai, recently conducted an inspection of the ongoing Benin-Irrua-Ewu-Agbede road project in Edo State.

At the project site, Dr. Ogbuku addressed the media, stating, “This part of the famous Benin-Auchi road has not been motorable for a while, which is why we decided to take up this challenge. Previously, parts of this road were so deep that trailers could sink, but so much progress has been made in this project, especially in filling, stone base, earthwork, and asphalting.”

He continued, “We have successfully intervened in the Ewu-Agbede section of the road, and it is now perfectly motorable. The remaining 1.7 km-long Irrua section of the road is still ongoing, with 300 meters of asphalting already completed. The progress is impressive.”

Dr. Ogbuku emphasized the significance of the project, stating, “This project will immensely benefit the economy of the region and Nigeria at large. It fulfils the Renewed Hope promise of Mr. President – a better life for Nigerians and easing the stresses of transportation for people, goods, and services on this road.”

The project is expected to significantly improve the transportation network in the region, enhancing the movement of people and goods and contributing to the overall development of Edo State and Nigeria.
