Amotekun deploys troops to fight bandits in Ondo
The Western Nigeria Security Network, known as Amotekun, has deployed personnel and formed partnerships with state security agencies to tackle banditry in the Southwest. This move follows concerns raised by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State about the influx of bandits from North-Central Nigeria.
In Ondo State, Amotekun Commander Chief Adetunji Adeleye revealed that 1,200 personnel have been stationed across the state’s 18 local government areas. He assured that Amotekun, in cooperation with other security forces, has devised a strategy to prevent the spread of banditry and ensure public safety.
Meanwhile, Olayanju emphasized the collaborative role of Amotekun, stating that the police, military, and Department of State Security take the lead, while Amotekun supports their efforts.
