PIND signs MoU with Okomu oil to promote community development in the Niger delta
The Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND) and Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc (OOPC) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting community development, peace-building, and sustainable economic growth in the Niger Delta region.
The MoU was signed during a ceremony in Benin, the capital of Edo State, marking a key step in both organizations’ dedication to improving community relations and fostering economic empowerment in Okomu and its neighboring areas.
The partnership will utilize PIND’s established model for peace-building and community stabilization to address the region’s complex socio-economic issues.
The initiative will feature capacity-building workshops, professional training on safety and community security management, as well as support for OOPC’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Dr. Effiong Essien, Programme Director at PIND, spoke on behalf of the foundation’s Executive Director, Mr. Tunji Idowu, emphasizing the importance of the collaboration.
“This MoU marks a new phase in promoting peace and driving sustainable development in the Niger Delta. By combining our expertise and resources with OOPC, we aim to create a meaningful and lasting impact on these communities, addressing conflicts and promoting economic empowerment,” he stated.
Dr. Graham Hefer, CEO of OOPC, reiterated the company’s long-standing commitment to its host communities.
