127 dies has sudan wars intensifies
Rights activists reported that at least 127 people, primarily civilians, were killed on Monday and Tuesday in Sudan as the conflicting parties launched airstrikes and artillery on heavily populated areas. The 20-month-long war between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has intensified despite failed ceasefire attempts.
The army has increased airstrikes in RSF-held areas, while the RSF has used artillery to attack villages. On Monday, over eight barrel bombs struck the market in Kabkabiya, North Darfur, resulting in more than 100 deaths, according to the Al-Fashir Resistance Committee. Emergency Lawyers, a human rights organization, confirmed the deaths and hundreds of injuries.
The army denied responsibility for the attack, stating it had the right to target locations used by the RSF for military operations.
On Tuesday, RSF forces shelled an army-controlled area in Omdurman, Khartoum state, killing at least 20 people, including 14 bus passengers. The state government reported a total of 65 deaths, with victims taken to Al-Naw Hospital.
