D.U.M denies Okowa’s arrest by EFCC
The Delta United Movement (DUM) has denied reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) detained the former governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, as falsely claimed in recent news. The political pressure group, led by its National Coordinator, Nkem Onye, issued a statement in Abuja on Thursday, urging caution against fake news that could create division in the state.
Onye expressed concern over the spread of misleading reports, particularly the claim of Okowa’s alleged three-day detention, stating that their investigation found Okowa was out of the country during the period in question. He suggested that these false reports were part of a political agenda aimed at causing discord and disrupting the current administration’s MORE Agenda in the state.

The group also warned against reports designed to foster animosity between past and present leaders, emphasizing that while accountability is important, political opponents should not be dragged through the mud. Onye stated that these attacks appeared to be orchestrated by political actors who, after losing in the electoral battle, are now using the media for revenge.
He called on the people of Delta to focus on the state’s collective interests and prioritize governance, now that the political campaigns have ended.
