Defection of party candidate not a problem to us _ SDP
The Ondo State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has stated that the recent defection of its deputy governorship candidate, Mrs. Susan Alabi, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) will not deter the party from winning the upcoming governorship election on November 16. Alabi, who was previously the running mate of SDP candidate Mr. Bamidele Akingboye, resigned from the party last month.
In her resignation letter to SDP National Chairman Alhaji Sheu Gabam, Alabi expressed her gratitude for her time with the party but indicated that she believed it was in her best interest to seek new opportunities. She also informed Akingboye about her resignation as the deputy governorship candidate.
In response, SDP state Secretary Mr. Oyeniyi Iwakun emphasized that the party is growing stronger and would not be distracted by Alabi’s departure. He acknowledged her right to make her own choices and wished her well in her new endeavors.
At a campaign rally in Oke Agbe, APC candidate and state governor Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa welcomed Alabi to the party and urged members to integrate her and work collectively for victory in the upcoming election. Aiyedatiwa highlighted the importance of visiting various communities to understand their challenges better and promised to address their needs directly.
Additionally, House of Representatives member Mr. Ifeoluwa Ehindero urged voters to support Aiyedatiwa, praising his leadership and encouraging everyone to participate in the election.
