General Ayebi Sylvester Sofiyegha has officially assumed his new role as the Head of the Ondo State Liaison Office of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) for Ese-Odo Local Government Area. His appointment marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to ensure sustainable peace and development in the region.

In his inaugural speech, General Sofiyegha expressed his profound gratitude to High Chief Dennis Brutu Otuaro Ph.D, the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) and a key figure in the Niger Delta, for considering him worthy of this important position. He acknowledged Dr. Otuaro’s leadership and contributions to the Presidential Amnesty Programme, vowing to uphold the values of peace and progress initiated by his boss.

While acknowledging the unique role of Dr. Otuaro, his speech was emphatic and read in part…”I am deeply honoured to take on this responsibility and will remain committed to advancing the good work initiated by Dr. Otuaro. Together, we will continue to promote peace, stability, and development in Ese-Odo and the broader Niger Delta region…”

The Presidential Amnesty Programme, initiated to address the grievances of former Niger Delta militants and foster long-term peace in the region, remains a critical component of the Federal Government’s efforts to stabilise the area.

General Sofiyegha’s leadership is expected to enhance the implementation of the programme’s goals in Ondo State, with a focus on rehabilitating and reintegrating former militants while fostering youth empowerment and development.
