The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has distributed 55,859 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in preparation for next month’s governorship election in Ondo State. Sam Olumekun, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, announced this in a statement on Tuesday.

Olumekun clarified that the collection of PVCs will not take place at local government offices. For five days, the commission made the PVCs available for collection in all 203 wards of the state. INEC urged remaining voters to collect their PVCs from their local government offices, emphasizing that no cards can be collected by proxy.

At the end of the five-day period, 55,859 cards were collected by new registrants and those seeking to transfer or replace lost or damaged cards, representing 62.2% of the 89,777 cards available. This marks the highest collection percentage within five days in Ondo State since the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) program began in 2015. A detailed breakdown of the collection by local government areas is available on INEC’s website and social media.

Additionally, collection will resume at 18 local government offices in Ondo State from October 23 to October 29, 2024, daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, including weekends. Information on the locations of the local government offices is also accessible on INEC’s website.
