Lagos-Calabar highway, Ebiseni criticizes Aiyedatiwa on ondo portion
Sola Ebiseni, the Labour Party (LP) candidate for the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, has called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to discuss the alignment of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway in the state. Speaking to reporters in Akure, Ebiseni criticized Aiyedatiwa for remaining silent on the project, noting that maps indicate the highway may not adequately cover Ondo’s coastal areas, despite the fact that many candidates from major political parties are from those regions.
Ebiseni stated, “Regardless of politics, the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, initiated by the Tinubu administration, is a visionary project for the Niger Delta. The Ondo segment, spanning about 100 kilometers, has the potential to greatly benefit coastal investments and address coastal erosion. However, it seems the road’s alignment may not effectively serve the Ondo coastal area.”

He expressed disappointment over the governor’s indifference and suggested he call a meeting to discuss the alignment with local leaders, contrasting this with Aiyedatiwa’s focus on less impactful projects. Ebiseni emphasized the need for a governor who understands the importance of such initiatives.
Regarding the LP’s prospects, Ebiseni highlighted that the Labour Party has a strong presence in Ondo, having previously won governorship elections from 2009 to 2017. He and his running mate, Dayo Awude, were commissioners under former Governor Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, and their campaign focuses on Mimiko’s achievements in education, health, and community development.
Ebiseni criticized rival parties for their tactics, asserting that the LP is engaging directly with voters and reminding them of the party’s past successes, including free secondary education and affordable university tuition. He pointed out that since the LP’s tenure ended, many beneficial projects, such as hospitals and infrastructure, have been neglected.
He concluded that voters remember the improvements made under the Labour Party and believe the party can achieve even more, in contrast to other parties that lack significant accomplishments.
