Transmission company launches ACTU for transparency
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has launched a new Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) to enhance transparency and integrity within its operations. The inauguration took place in Abuja, where TCN’s Managing Director, Engr. Sule Abdulaziz, urged employees to stay committed to effectively providing power to Nigerians.
Represented by Mrs. Abiodun Afolabi, Executive Director of Human Resources and Corporate Services, Abdulaziz highlighted the importance of integrity in TCN’s function of linking generation plants to distribution companies in Nigeria’s electricity supply chain. He explained that the ACTU will assist the company in identifying and managing potential risks.
He stated, “The core objectives of the ACTU include improving transparency by pinpointing risks and inefficiencies that may affect our ability to meet the power sector’s demands.” Abdulaziz further noted that the unit would serve as a reference for ethics and compliance, ensuring decisions align with TCN’s commitment to accountability and integrity, thus boosting public trust in the company’s ethical operations.
Dr. Musa Aliyu, Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), represented by Olusegun Adigun, emphasized the ICPC’s dedication to promoting transparency and accountability within public service. He explained that the ACTU, part of the ICPC’s initiatives, is designed to prevent corruption and supports the ICPC’s mission to strengthen institutions and accountability in government agencies.
In her remarks, Bembo Erakevwe, Chair of TCN’s ACTU, pledged the unit’s dedication to upholding the Code of Ethics and advancing a more transparent and accountable TCN.
