Force cracks down kidnappers den in FCT

The Nigeria Police Force’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command has reported the arrest of four kidnapping suspects and the recovery of various arms and ammunition following a successful operation in the FCT.

SP Josephine Adeh, the police spokesperson, announced in a Thursday statement that the Anti-Kidnapping Unit acted on reliable intelligence and tracked down the suspects, who have been terrorizing the area. The arrested individuals were identified as Yau Sani, known as Baba, an ex-convict, along with Nuhu (Giwa), Kabiru Mohammed, and Yusuf Hassan. They were apprehended in their hideout in the Sauka area of Abuja, among the general population.

The suspects admitted to being involved in numerous kidnappings of residents in the FCT and its surroundings, resulting in the deaths of seven victims. Their activities have affected areas such as Dakwa, Dawaki, Aco Estate, Dupe Village, Zuma Rock, Kuchiko village, and parts of Niger and Kaduna states.

Additionally, the suspects led police to another hideout in Gauraka Forest, Suleja, Niger State, where authorities recovered four AK-47 rifles, 13 magazines, and 162 rounds of 7.6 mm live ammunition. They also disclosed plans to attack various government institutions and estates within the FCT, which the Command has proactively prevented.

The police reiterated their commitment to combating crime and criminality in the FCT.
