Ondo Elections: NNPP kick starts sales of nomination forms
The Ondo State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has commenced the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the upcoming local government elections scheduled for January 18, 2025. According to State Publicity Secretary Oluwafemi Olaleye, the forms will be available from September 30 to October 18, 2024, inviting candidates for various local government roles.
To enhance inclusivity, NNPP is providing a 50% discount on nomination forms for women, Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs), and youths aged 30 and under, along with a standard fee for the Expression of Interest form.
Olaleye emphasized that NNPP is focused on empowering diverse candidates to represent all community segments, aiming for development, transparency, and accountability. He remarked, “These elections will mark a new governance era. NNPP is committed to grassroots democracy and enhancing electoral participation.”
He encouraged potential candidates to seize this opportunity to contribute to local governance, stating, “We are thrilled to open the portal for our candidates. This moment is crucial for those eager to serve their communities and make a significant impact.”
Olaleye reiterated the importance of diverse representation in government, affirming that this initiative aims to dismantle financial barriers that may prevent qualified individuals from running for office. By offering these discounts, NNPP seeks to empower women, PWDs, and younger candidates to engage in the democratic process.
He concluded, “We encourage all aspiring candidates to step forward into leadership. Your community needs you, and this is your opportunity to effect change.”
