Political cross carpeting, opposition defect in mass
Ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, Dr. Akinsola Jimoh, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC) along with approximately 600 supporters. Jimoh, who ran for the Okitipupa Constituency 1 seat in the 2023 elections, officially joined the APC at an event held on Sunday at St Pius Catholic field in Igbotako Ward 2.
The event saw key APC figures, including the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry Pastor Segun Aiyerin, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Alhaji Amidu Takuro, House of Assembly member Chris Ayebusiwa, and local APC leaders, in attendance.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, represented by Commissioner Amidu Takuro, welcomed Jimoh and his supporters, expressing confidence in the positive impact Jimoh would have as a grassroots politician. He encouraged voters to support APC and affirm the governor’s achievements in the upcoming election.
Jimoh explained his decision to join the APC after extensive consultations, emphasizing his commitment to contributing to the state’s development through the ruling party.
