The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Western Zone, has inaugurated an annex Secretariat in Delta State. The event, held in Warri on Thursday, was attended by both former and current Council leaders. The IYC President, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri, officially opened the new annex.

Comrade Nicholas Igarama, the Chairman of the IYC Western Zone, emphasized in his speech that the annex office does not replace the primary Secretariat, which is being developed in Bomadi. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to completing the Bomadi headquarters during his tenure.

Igarama described the annex project as a fulfillment of his campaign promise, ensuring executive meetings no longer take place in informal settings like beer parlors and hotels. The newly established annex boasts three office spaces and a conference room, reflecting the council’s commitment to a more organized and professional approach.

Marking three months of his leadership, Igarama highlighted key achievements, including engagement with stakeholders, addressing the concerns of Ijaw people with international oil companies and government agencies, and providing a formal platform for Ijaw people in the Western Zone to voice their issues.

President Lokpobiri praised the Western Zone’s executive team for their accomplishments in just 90 days, crediting Igarama for fostering teamwork and restoring trust within the Council. He encouraged them to continue their efforts, as the zone expects even more from their leadership.
