Ex-militant Tibiebi arrested for illegal arms

The state is currently holding and questioning Mr. Tibiebi, a self-declared general and former militant, at a police station.
Mr. Amadein Tibiebi, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) assistant publicity secretary in Bayelsa State, was taken into custody on suspicion of unlawfully possessing a firearm.

The present arrest is related to a previous incident that happened in November 2021, when Richard Okon was arrested for allegedly illegally having firearms during a wake-keeping ceremony.
Okon claimed to be working with Tibiebi Woinemi Amadein in a confessional video, that he was the owner of the pistol.

He is the Chief Security Officer and nephew of 9th Senate Bayelsa Central Senator Cleopas Moses.
Tibiebi was originally invited by the police, but because of his ties to some state PDP and government chieftains, he was freed after allegedly presenting falsified documents and false licenses.
But he was just arrested after filing a new police petition, and he is currently being questioned for unlawful gun ownership and firearm license forgery.

It was discovered that because of his ties to the state government and PDP executive members, Tibiebi had boasted about being untouchable by law enforcement.
