Tinubu Supports PAP’s Educational Initiatives, Otuaro Tells Students in the UK
Dr. Dennis Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), has called on students under the Programme’s foreign scholarship scheme to honor the Federal Government’s investment in their education by focusing diligently on their studies.
During a meeting on Sunday with PAP scholarship students currently studying in the United Kingdom, Otuaro emphasized the importance of academic excellence. In a statement released Monday by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Igoniko Oduma, Otuaro highlighted the expectation that students would perform well academically to justify the government’s support.
Otuaro noted that the PAP scholarship scheme has already produced many graduates with first-class and second-class upper honors in competitive fields, including the sciences and clinical sciences. He urged the students to continue the legacy of academic achievement established by their peers, both in Nigeria and abroad.
He also remarked that many PAP graduates are excelling in their post-graduation careers and contributing to national development. Otuaro reiterated his administration’s commitment to enhancing the scholarship scheme, aiming to address the human capacity gap in the Niger Delta.
Otuaro stated that the ongoing reintegration phase of the program would continue to prioritize the education and welfare of students studying in both Nigerian and foreign universities. This, he said, aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision for peace, security, stability, and socio-economic progress in the Niger Delta, as outlined in his Renewed Hope Agenda.
The PAP Administrator shared that President Tinubu is pleased with the academic successes of PAP scholarship students and has shown strong support for expanding educational and vocational training initiatives for youth in the region. Otuaro expressed gratitude to the President for his commitment to transforming the Niger Delta through his Renewed Hope Agenda.
Otuaro encouraged the students to be exemplary representatives of the PAP, their communities, the Niger Delta, and Nigeria as a whole, advising them to avoid actions that could tarnish the country’s image.
“As PAP scholarship students abroad, it is crucial that you dedicate yourselves to your studies and strive for the highest academic achievements. This is your primary purpose here, and Nigeria expects nothing less than exemplary conduct and academic excellence from you,” Otuaro said.
He assured the students that their scholarship and welfare would remain a priority, recognizing education as a key strategy for closing the human capital development gap in the Niger Delta.
In response, the students expressed their gratitude for Otuaro’s visit and his commitment to their education and welfare. They appreciated the personal attention shown by the PAP leadership, which they saw as a sign of the government’s dedication to their success. The students pledged to be good ambassadors and to work hard to justify the investment in their future.
