A HERO’S FAREWELL: Navy Commander’s Daring Final Act
In a heart-wrenching display of bravery, Lt. Commander Gideon Yashim Gwaza, a Nigerian Navy officer, made the ultimate sacrifice, giving his life to rescue 59 people on board a sinking vessel, MV AMBIKA 4, in the treacherous waters of Okpobo field, Niger Delta.
His selfless act of valor has sent shockwaves of grief and admiration throughout the nation.
The Prayer and Support for the Nigerian Armed Forces and other Security Agencies (PSNASA) has paid a heartfelt tribute to the fallen hero, hailing his daring rescue operation as a shining example of the unwavering dedication of naval personnel and security agents who risk their lives daily to protect others.
Ambassador Mary Abayomi Fatile, Convener of PSNASA, made an emotional appeal to Nigerians to come together and show appreciation for the selfless sacrifices of security agents like Lt. Commander Gwaza, who put the needs of others before their own, often at great personal cost.
“PSNASA commiserates with the Nigerian Navy over the loss of one of its gallant officers, Lt. Commander Gideon Yashim Gwaza, who paid the ultimate sacrifice while rescuing a vessel in distress. His legacy will continue to inspire others, and his heroic actions will never be forgotten,” Ambassador Fatile said.
The statement continued: “We see Gwaza’s sacrifice as a testament to the unwavering dedication and commitment of naval personnel and security agents who risk their lives every day to protect us from harm.
Unfortunately, some of these brave individuals make the ultimate sacrifice, losing their lives in the line of duty. We call on Nigerians to come together to support and appreciate the sacrifices of these heroes.”
PSNASA extended heartfelt condolences to the family of Late Lt. Commander Gideon Yashim Gwaza, a true Nigerian hero who will never be forgotten.
