Counsel to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Aloy Ejimakor, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to issue a strong diplomatic warning to the South African government over recurring attacks on Nigerians and other African nationals residing in the country.

In a statement titled “Dear Black South Africans, Especially the Zulu,” Ejimakor urged the South African authorities to take decisive action against mob violence, warning that continued attacks on Nigerians could have serious consequences.

He appealed to South Africans to remember the historic support they received from African nations during the struggle against apartheid, stressing that many countries made significant sacrifices for South Africa’s liberation.

Before you raise your next hand at another black African living in South Africa, remember that South Africa was the only country in the world that the whole of black Africa came together to free itself from oppression and apartheid,” he stated.

Ejimakor recalled that former South African leaders, including Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki, benefited from Nigeria’s support during the anti-apartheid struggle.

According to him, Nigeria and several other African nations provided political, financial, and humanitarian assistance to South Africa, while countries such as Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Tanzania also made significant sacrifices in the liberation struggle.

Addressing the South African government, Ejimakor urged President Cyril Ramaphosa to take immediate steps to halt attacks on foreign nationals and ensure the protection of lives and property.

And to your government and President Ramaphosa, the rest of black Africa is watching closely and asking how fast you can step up and stop this terrible situation. The buck stops at your table,” he said.

He also called on President Tinubu to adopt a firm diplomatic stance in defence of Nigerians living in South Africa.

“To President Tinubu, I urge you to issue the strongest warning to the South African government that there will be serious consequences if any Nigerian is harmed by a South African mob,” Ejimakor stated.

His remarks come amid renewed concerns over reported attacks on foreign nationals in parts of South Africa, with calls growing for stronger diplomatic engagement to safeguard the lives and rights of Nigerians living abroad.
